Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in the last two tournaments of the year as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together again next season.
The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.
Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her during parts of the season.
Those results followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.
The player achieved twenty-eight matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.
