News has broken that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
