Former BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Questioning After Allegations of Bias in Disclosed Memorandum
We start with queries from Conservative MP the committee chair, who chairs the panel.
She commences by offering background to the unauthorized document prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I don't want the BBC tilting this way or that way, I just want it neutral, fair and just," he declares.
Upon being questioned whether he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott responds: "No I don't. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation creates is exceptional - encompassing documentary and fictional content."
However, he continues: "There remains real work that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
A further ex-adviser BBC consultant interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it operates a "ongoing system and active debate" across evolving and intricate issues.
"Did the BBC ready to engage in a thorough discussion and exchange and take action?" she asks herself. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
