Brian Eno Urges Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The single showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The team running the project have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
